Have you ever met the owner of an Outback Steak House, Applebee's, etc?

Neither have I, and I used to wonder how those businesses could keep growing and growing and keep opening store after store and the owner isn't there to oversee the day-to-day operations?  The answer-these owners had developed the skill set called Business Owner Mentality.

So, what is Business Owner Mentality?

At TFL Worldwide, we define Business Owner Mentality as a way of thinking - a skill set that can be learned by anyone. It is not a natural gift or talent one is born with.  It is a skill set much like leadership and, contrary to popular belief, people are not born leaders.

You go to school to get the education and training you need to acquire a good job.  But have you ever wondered where you go to get the training necessary to be a good business owner?  Most people start a business based on past experience - I can roof a house, so I am going to start my own roofing company.  However, owning a business requires much more than the ability to provide a product or service.

In your role as business owner, do you ever think ...

  • I have to do everything while my employees breeze through the day?
  • There aren't enough hours in the day?
  • If I can just make it through today?
  • What happened to my bottom line?
  • I know what I want to do, but no one else understands?
  • I can't get my employees to do what I need them to do?
  • I can't find good people and, even if I do, I can't afford to keep them?
  • My business would be more successful if my employees were more competent?
  • My  employees have a better life than me?
  • I work to pay my employees and get left with nothing for me and my family?
  • I think my tax preparer is good - he filed all my returns  on time, well, at least by the extension deadline? But has he ever come to me and said, "Here is a really good idea that will save you a lot of money on your taxes?"
  • I am not sure about this online tax or legal service.  Maybe I should invest in sound legal and professional advice?
  • My sales are erratic.  I need steady cash flow?

This is where TFL Worldwide can help - to coach and mentor you, the business owner, and show you how to develop a Business Owner Mentality.

We define a successful business as one that can run profitably with or without the daily presence of the business owner.  How wonderful would it be for you to have the option of being there?  Maybe your business is your passion so being there is not a problem, but wouldn't it be better to be there without the stress?  Maybe your passion is something completely apart from your business and you simply want a business that provides the cash flow to fund your other endeavors?

By now, you are surely wondering  - how can my business run without me there?

The answer is simple -  learn and apply business owner mentality.

Our responsibility as your business coach is to facilitate the development of your business owner mentality.  We will give you unbiased and objective information and insight allowing you to make better decisions for your company.  As your business coach, we will give you the motivation, guidance and practical support you need to achieve greater levels of success with your company.

Still unsure? Read on and see how many of the following points describe you as a business owner...

  • Some of our clients came to us because they were just TIRED of WORKING ALL THE TIME.  You know, doing it and doing it and doing it.  So much so they could not remember the last time they took some quality time off.  That is time off that they didn't have to pay for because of all the things that went wrong while they were gone.
  • Some of our clients were UPSET OVER ERRATIC SALES and its direct impact on the CASH FLOW of their company.  It is difficult enough to develop and maintain effective methods of increasing sales while maintaining healthy cash flow under normal circumstances but the compounding problem of our current economic downturn calls for some additional creative marketing.
  • Some of our clients cam to us because they were CONCERNED THEY MIGHT BE MISSING IMPORTANT TAX DEDUCTIONS and PAYING TOO MUCH IN TAXES.  Based on our experience, most business owners believe they have a good accountant.  But the reality is that traditional accounting in nothing more than generic bookkeeping sprinkled with some common "H&R Block" level tax advice.  When we asked them when was the last time your accountant came to you - not because you called him - and said "Here is a really good idea I think will save you a lot of money on your taxes?" Their answer is usually never.  We just don't think that is good enough for our clients.
  • Some of our clients came to us because they were AT THEIR WITS END.  They think they know what needs to be done to improve their business, but they just never can find the time to actually do it.  They are simply too busy taking care of the day-to-day affairs.  They would love to spend more time working "ON" their business but they can't because they spend all of their time working "IN" it.
  • Some of our clients were TICKED OFF over EMPLOYEE REALTED ISSUES that never seem to end.  They were tired of spening enormous amounts of time and money training employees that may simply leave with little or no notice.
  • Some of our clients had REACHED A CROSSROAD IN THEIR LIFE and they no longer have the passion about their business that they once had.  They would like to sell thier business but they really don't know how.  And, they have no idea what it is actually worth.
  • Some of our clients were CONSUMED WITH UNCERTAINTY about what to do next.  They have a successful business, or at least one that provides for their family.  But they still work way too much.  They want to know how to take their business to the next level.  A level where their business continues to grow and be profitable; but they want to cut back and actually enjoy some of the fruits of their labor.  These clients decided it was finally time to make good on some of those promises.  You know the ones I am taking about - the "as soon as we have more time, money, etc." ones that we make to our family and friends.  They wanted to stop putting things off.  They wanted to get rid of that sick feeling of neglecting their family because they were too busy making a living to make a life.
